It gives Claudius more questions to ask, at least. "So it was a revolt?" he asks, imagining the sort of uneasy riots that break out among the serfdom when the local lords are cruel or incompetent. Nobles would petition the crown for assistance, he remembers, and they would always receive it. King Hamlet could never resist a show of force to put someone in their place.
