"Well --Pride didn't exactly start in 1969, but it was more a culmination of a lot of people fighting for their rights and progress and the ability to be recognized as citizens and people regardless of who they love, or their gender expression. It came to the forefront properly in 1969, like I said, when a riot started at the Stonewall Inn in New York. There was a raid on the bar there, and people fought back. It turned into a few days of rioting, and the next year, to commemorate the whole thing, the first Pride parade happened."
